Goal Talk for April 2015

Good morning/afternoon/evening!

At the beginning of this year, I made a promise to myself that I would set goals each month and do my very best to complete them all. I set multiple little goals to do, and those add up to the major goals that I have. It may seem like a lot, but they are little tweaks I can make to my life every day. I am thinking of doing goal posts at the beginning of each month and track my progress along the way! I already know that April is going to be an exciting month for me, so I set goals that I know I will more than likely achieve! I have a few things in the works, so some of these things will make sense later on. 🙂

Goals for April 2015:

1. Practice working on handstands! (I can do headstands, but I have been really hesitant on moving up to handstands.)

2. Be more consistent with my blogging. (My spark has come back, and I have quite a few projects in the works. :))

3. Get my license.

4. Save up my money and hopefully buy a car! (Super excited for this!)

5. Incorporate more HIITs into my workouts.

6. Drink more smoothies. (I started having a smoothie a day for the past week, and I’ve been loving it! Yummm.)

7. Reduce my coffee drinking down to one cup a day. (It’s been reaching up to four cups a day. :o)

8. Start drinking green tea again.

9. Don’t be so nervous to try out new exercises.

10. Stretch after every workout. (VERY important for your health.)

-What are some of your goals for April?

Conquered and Proud!

Good morning and happy Monday!

Today is the day that my summer vacation ends and a brand new school year begins. It’s a sad thing to say, but I am pretty excited to start a new school year! If you didn’t know, I am the type of person that absolutely LOVES to learn. Although I may not like the cycle of school, I love the knowledge I obtain. There is so much out there yet to be learned! Okay.. I need to tone it down. 😀 To prove to you that I love to learn, I free willingly started reading a psychology textbook and am taking notes. I absolutely love psychology. It’s just so fascinating to me.

This weekend was a very relaxing one for me. You would think that I would be #turntup for my last weekend, but I ain’t about that life. Yes, I do love going out and having fun, but that doesn’t involve partying, drinking, smoking, etc. I am more of a movies, sleepover, and bowling kinda girl when it comes to hanging out with friends. Who’s with me?! 🙂

I enjoyed a weekend filled with spending time with friends, hitting PRs in the gym, spending time with family, watching Netflix, reading, preparing for school, and eating a lot of good food. You guys, I conquered a fear food last night! I repeat I CONQUERED A FEAR FOOD LAST NIGHT. You may be wondering, what was this fear food you conquered Natalie? It was a peanut butter and jelly cookie. It was like a pb&j sadwich but with cookies. I’m telling you, these cookies were made with flour, butter, full eggs, sugar, the whole shabang! The jelly wasn’t sugarfree either! It was so good! Ahh, grinning from ear to ear right now. ^_^

You know what crossed my mind this weekend? On top of wanting to be a specials education teacher and a personal trainer/nutritionist, I want to open up my own restaurant or bakery. I have had so many idea jumble around in my head, but I was thinking that I would want to open it up with a partner. Christina or Amanda, I’m looking at you two. 😉

I have been craving froyo up the wazoo. This isn’t just a one day craving.. It has been dawning on me for quite some time now. A froyo trip is definitely in order after I finish my first week of school. It’s like a little celebratory treat, ya know? I mean.. I’ll be making the transition from summer to school which is pretty difficult in the beginning. I know you know what I’m talking about!

I’ve heard about apple cider vinegar’s health benefits, but I have been a little uneasy about drinking it. My digestion hasn’t been rockstar lately and I have been bloating a lot (after eating pretty much anything), so I’m thinking of mixing some in with tea today. I’m hoping it has a good taste so I can make it a regular thing. Does anyone have any tips to help with digestion?

I have been loving the french braid hairstyle a lot lately. Everyday I manage to turn my bun into a french braid. I just find them so easy and cute. It keeps my hair out of my face and adding a bow just makes it a million times more girly and cute. I think I found my staple hairstyle for now.

This has just been a whole lot of rambles, but I feel like I should catch up with you guys. I’ve finished my coffee and I’m now about to start my classes. I hope everyone has an amazing day and week! ❤

Thinking Out Loud ; 6/5

I’m gonna take a risk and skip an intro and go straight to the thoughts! I hope that’s okay, Amanda. 🙂

1. Man oh man have I been loving being on vacation! I have never felt so stress free in such a long time! Enjoying the days going to the gym, having more time to cook, spending more time with friends and family, swimming, watching movies.. this is the life. I’m surprised I haven’t turned into a lazy bum. I’ve actually been quite motivated and more active. No complaints here though!

2. Every night I have been having a combination of three different cereals and a tortilla with peanut butter. It sounds like a strange combo, but it is honestly really good. It fills me up and I go to bed with a happy tummy.

3. With the move, I was only able to do at home workouts, because the gym I was signed up too was too far to get too. Well, I was finally able to join and new gym, and I love it! It has some equipment I have never tried before, so trying them out is fun! Definitely makes the workouts more fun.

4. I have no doubt that I will get addicted to Netflix over vacation. Slowly but surely my days have been filled with watching movies on Netflix.

5. Every day I have been biking around 6 miles in the morning. It gives me a time to myself to just think and clear my mind. I’m happy that I am able to ride my bike again. I haven’t rode it since the accident back in January. o.o

6. Recently, I lost someone that is really close too me. I mean extremely close.. I’m still feeling it in my heart, but I just want to let you know that it is okay to cry. I have been crying lately, because I don’t want to hold back the tears. It’s not good to hold in your emotions.. Just just have to feel what you feel.

7. I have been having my craving for frozen yogurt again.. oh my. I blame the hot weather. 😉

8. I have also been craving the grilled chicken burger with avocado and sweet potato fries I mentioned yesterday.

9. I have been chugging water like it’s nobody’s business. Arizona’s heat is no joke. I even started carrying around a gallon jug. o.o

10. I really need to update my playlist for the gym. Any suggestions on some songs that could help motivate me? I’d really appreciate it!

I hope everyone has an amazing day! ❤

The Journey Takes Patience

When I first started the journey to a healthier lifestyle, I didn’t realize how much patience it was going to take. The time we live in right now is focused on having things in the now. In the beginning, I wanted it to take as less time as possible to drop the pounds. I will admit it, I had some unrealistic goals in the beginning. Hearing how some people dropped 5 pounds in a week made me want to have that happen every single week.

At first, it was going that way, because I worked my booty off. ( I say that both literally and figuratively. ) When I came to a plateau, I became made at myself, because I thought I was not working hard enough. I would punish myself, because I thought I was giving up on myself, when in reality, I was going beyond what I should have done. I followed every “diet rule” there was out there. I would not eat past 6, I never touched anything that was considered a “dirty food,” I gave everyone a hard time when they would cook, I would over work myself. That worked for a little bit, but then I came to another plateau.

Being the naive girl I was, I thought that little to no eating would help me reach my “goal weight.” I was to the point where I would not even exceed 500 calories. Yes, you read that number right. I would burn off every calorie I inhaled. I was so fatigued, but I thought it was worth it. When I saw that number drop, I was “happy.” I destroyed my body. I destroyed it in so many ways. I completely messed up my hormones, some of my organs almost failed, I now have really fragile bones, I lost my period for 2 years, I lost hair by the chunks, I was depressed and that led to some tragic results.

While in recovery, I realized that the process was going to take time. In the beginning, I was too stubborn to face that fact. I wanted results as fast as I could get them. I put my health at such great risk, but I was too gullible to do research on my own.

What I realize now, is that this journey is going to take time, patience, and persistence. In recovery, I followed a macro plan, because I was advised to in order to make sure that I was eating enough and getting enough nutrients to my body. Seeing the number rise in calories and weight scared me at first. I’m not going to lie, I felt like falling back into my old ways, but I was starting to actually look alive again. I was not as pale, I was not as boney, I was not always so tired, my hair was not falling out, and I was feeling happier. I stopped exercising for a while, because I needed my body to recover. I would go on walks, but that was about it. In that time, I did my research. I found that it will take time to build strength. I found the proper way to nourish my body as well as my soul. I found ways to help with journey; Primarily they were through social media websites and WordPress blogs.

I am still recovering from the damage that has been done, but I have obtained so much knowledge over the past few years. I nourish my body with foods that are good for my body, that give me energy, that make me feel good, and I also eat food that is good for my soul. I workout, because I now love to it. It is not a form of feeling like a burden. It’s my therapy, it’s my passion, it is what I love to do. I have a better relationship with my friends and family. I don’t hold back when asked to go out. I don’t decline going to restaurants or to a get together. I am so much more happier now.

Every day is a new step along in the journey. I learn new things about myself every day. Times do get tough, but I keep my head up and push on through. Bad times do not last forever. They are just a bump in the road that can be recovered from. If you’re on the journey now, just remember that there will be trial and error. There will be times when life gets tough. Just know that you are doing good for yourself, it is about balance, and it will all be worth it no matter what. ❤

Thinking Out Loud ; 5/15

Happy Thursday everyone!  😀

Seeing as both Amanda and I have a strong dislike towards intros, I will keep this short and sweet and get straight into the thoughts. Shall we?

1. I am happy to report that I took my final last exam yesterday! Man.. those three and a half hours were brutal. I am happy to say that I think I did pretty good on it though! I had peppermints to keep me calm throughout the test, I took my deep breaths, and I really focused in on the work. AP has really kicked my booty, but I can say that I ended up being the victor in the end. 😉

2. In the past week since moving, I have had Sonic twice. I’m saying this because ever since my E.D. days, I haven’t stepped foot in there. With the stress of moving and school, I just had to get something quick and wanted to (I guess you could say) ‘conquer’ another food fear. I haven’t gone all out extreme, but the grilled chicken sandwich with fries is good enough for me. One day I will try the shakes.. one day.

3. I have also put exercising on the back burner these past few days as well. I thought that exercise on top of already stressing about studying for school would make things much harder on myself, so I decided I would go a few days without it. My mental being is really thanking me for that.

4. Ever since Amanda brought back the facts, I have been scrolling through @Uberfacts on Twitter endlessly. Some of the stuff on there is crazy..

5. Along with bananas, I cannot eat blueberries on their own. I have to have them in either a smoothie or oatmeal. I tried having plain blueberries yesterday while studying, and was I feeling some serious stomach cramps. Oy vey..

6. Sleep is a VERY glorious thing. I cannot emphasize it enough on how much I love sleep.

7. I’m craving summer pretty much all of the time now. I cannot wait for all of the family time, friends time, hikes, swimming, smoothies, fruit, doin’ my thang, etc. Who’s with me?! 😀 T-9 days!

8. I will finally be able to get baking this weekend in the kitchen! Everything in the house is set up and I have some idea flourishing in my head. It’s crazy how much of a break from baking can really spark your imagination. I’m ready to get the goods baking and my house smelling like wonderland.

9. A few more dresses are in order to be bought for summer. Primarily sundresses, but any will do. 😉

10. Oh! Christine! How I have been getting my hair so thick and shiny is from increasing my healthy fats intake primarily! I have been eating a lot more peanut butter and tuna lately. I’ve also been having avocado (but not as much). I have been aiming around 8 -9 hours of sleep a night. I don’t wash it everyday, because that strips away the natural oils. I haven’t applied to heat to it since last year. I think my increased blood circulation from working out has something to do with it as well. If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know! 🙂

I hope you have an amazing day! ❤

Rejoiced and Rejuvenated (MIMM)

Happy Monday lovelies!

mimm (1)

This weekend was definitely one filled with self rejuvenation. I decided that I needed a break from going out and just spending time at home. Lately I have been going out more with friends and enjoying that time, but I really just needed  a weekend in with all of this stress I am under. I have to tell you, I have never felt better on a Monday.

Marvelous was.. going on a night hike with friend on Friday. I have never been night hiking before, so this was a really new experience for me. Lately, I have a new found love for the mountains. I seriously want to go there every single weekend. Good thing I will be moving closer to them soon. 😉 Anywho, it was really nice to just be with a friend and becoming one with nature. When we got to the top, I saw the prettiest view. I decided to leave my phone in the car, so I didn’t get a picture, but we all have to step away from technology sometimes.

Marvelous was.. listening to my cravings and getting In-N-Out. If you live on the west coast of the U.S.A., you know exactly what I mean when I say they have the best burgers. Everything is fresh. You can see them make all of the food, even the french fries. I can’t get enough of it.

Marvelous was.. watching the Sister Act 1 & 2 with my mom. We haven’t had a movie night in a while, so we decided to have one. Those movies are hilarious! If you haven’t seen them, I highly recommend them. We were laughing nonstop. 🙂

Marvelous was.. being able to have time to workout. I admit that I have been lacking in the workout department, but I did get in some good workouts. I have been feeling the soreness, so that’s a good sign, right? 😉 I’m going to start working out at 4:30 again, because with the way school is now, I won’t have time in the afternoon/evenings. I love working out and how it makes me feel, so it’s all good. 🙂

Marvelous was.. stretching and almost being able to do the splits! Stretching and yoga has really helped with my flexibility. I’m loving it!

Marvelous was.. taking a nap on Saturday. Need I say more?

Marvelous was.. spending Easter with my parents and cooking dinner and dessert for them. They really enjoyed the time off from chores and to just relax. My future husband will be one lucky man, haha! 😀

Marvelous was.. organizing all of my work, creating lists, and preparing for the week ahead. Thank you for the tips! They really do help. 🙂

I hope you have an AMAZING day and week. ❤
